Sunday, 1 November, 2020. The yellow square

 When I look up to someone as a mentor, I  naturally am his (or her) disciple like I am.

However, unlike the master-disciple relationship under the apprenticeship system, this relationship does not mean that the mentor has given me permission to become his (or her) apprentice, nor has he (or her) given me a full license or a certificate as a disciple.

Therefore, it is like a one-sided wish of me, and if we make a mistake, we may become a nuisance or a stalker.

If I wish to become a real disciple, It is essential that I do not make these errors. So I must properly study mentor thinking and faithfully practice that. As it is so, I can surely say: "I am one of that disciple too.". The way of the disciple is still so far for me.

But Nichiren has taught me "Rely on the Law and not upon persons." (on page 109 in "Conversation between a Sage and an Unenlightened Man").  Continue next time.

We studied a beginning part of the text (see below) of "Letter to Jakunichi-bō ( 137 )", which is the text for the Zadankai-Gosho-teaching in November, which is the founding month of Soka Gakkai. The part is the "It is extremely rare to be born as a human being. Not only are you endowed with human form, but you have had the rare fortune to encounter Buddhism. Moreover, out of the Buddha’s many teachings you have encountered the daimoku, or the title, of the Lotus Sutra and become its votary. Truly you are a person who has offered alms to a hundred thousand million Buddhas in his past existences!". Moreover, we studied the more part text of "Letter to Jakunichi-bō ( 137 )" on the Gosh-study-lecture in November by Mr. Morinaka (Study-Leader of Soka Gakkai) on YouTube. I previously used the clause that you look up to someone as a mentor. I literally look up that (not someone) every day, but of course, it is the picture of mentor on the upper of a wall that I am looking up. You may interest in who is in the picture. I will tell you about that someday because it is never secret. You will certainly feel that my sentences are arrogant, because these are wordy sentences. But I think that those styles will mainly relate to the character of me. But those possibly depend on minds that are common with Japanese, and I will expect a little that is so. No way, I must appreciate that you had read those such sentences and like to expect your generosity.
